The Scottish Africa Business Association (SABA) is pleased to announce its upcoming delegation to London as part of the Scotland London Africa Week, scheduled from November 26th to 28th, 2024. This significant event aims to strengthen trade ties between Scotland and Africa, highlighting the importance of London as a strategic hub for accessing the African business community.
The delegation will participate in a series of exclusive engagements with African ambassadors, high commissioners, UK politicians and key industry leaders. These interactions are designed to help explore and create new business opportunities.
The event will cover critical sectors including energy, skills training, agriculture, the blue economy, marine and healthcare, showcasing the diverse opportunities for collaboration and growth.
Trade between Scotland and Africa has seen significant growth, with both areas benefiting from mutual exchanges in various sectors:
· Energy: Scotland’s expertise in renewable energy, particularly wind and tidal power, aligns well with Africa’s vast potential for renewable energy development. In 2023, trade in renewable energy technologies between Scotland and Africa was valued at over £500 million.

With a rapidly growing population and some of the fastest-growing economies in the world, there is a high demand for quality education and skills development.
· Marine & Blue Economy: Scotland’s commitment to sustainable marine practices offers valuable insights for Africa’s blue economy. The trade in marine technology and sustainable fishing practices has seen a 20% increase, amounting to £150 million in 2023. Africa’s extensive coastline and rich marine resources present a wealth of potential with many countries actively seeking expertise to develop their blue economies.

· Healthcare: Collaborative efforts in healthcare have led to significant advancements in medical technology and pharmaceuticals. The trade in healthcare products and services between Scotland and Africa was valued at £300 million in 2023.
London serves as a vital gateway for Scottish businesses looking to expand into African markets. Its position as a global financial centre, coupled with its diverse entrepreneurial community, makes it an ideal location for helping businesses diversity their products and services, access new markets and increase their export opportunities. The Scotland London Africa Week will leverage London’s strategic advantages to facilitate meaningful connections and drive economic growth.
“We are thrilled to lead this delegation to London and showcase the immense potential for collaboration between Scotland and Africa.
