The Scottish Africa Business Association (SABA) is proud to announce its delegation to London as part of the highly anticipated Scotland London Africa Week. This significant event aims to strengthen economic ties and foster collaboration between Scotland, the UK and a number of African nations.
The delegation will meet with prominent UK politicians throughout the visit, to discuss policies and initiatives that can enhance trade and investment between Scotland and Africa. These discussions will focus on creating a conducive environment for business growth and exploring opportunities for mutual benefit with the first being held in Westminster. This will be followed by a networking reception held at Dover House, by kind permission of the Secretary of State for Scotland, The Rt Hon Ian Murray MP, b ringing together key business people from the UK and Africa to connect, to help kickstart Britain’s economy and to help use our trade strategy to drive up exports and sell more British products and services into Africa.
A series of meetings are scheduled with African High Commissioners to the UK, some of which are scheduled for Scotland House at which the Scottish Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Constitution, External Affairs and Culture, Angus Robertson MSP will highlight the Scottish Government’s strategic policy approach to international trade. The briefings from the High Commissioners will provide a platform for dialogue on bilateral trade, investment opportunities and give delegates the opportunity hear about market entry and business opportunities to support them in their endeavours in the African markets.
The delegation will also spend time with key industry leaders from businesses throughout Africa at an event being held at Marlborough House, thanks to our partner, The Commonwealth, which will explore avenues for collaboration. This includes leveraging The Commonwealth’s extensive network to promote trade, investment and educational exchanges between Scotland and African member states.
There will also be the opportunity for delegates to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of London at an evening drinks reception, held at Diageo.
"Interocean is thrilled to participate in Scotland London Africa Week, bringing together leaders and innovators to foster new connections between Scotland and Africa," said Alex Clark, Chief Commercial Officer at Interocean. "As a proud sponsor of the event's drinks evening, we're excited to help create an environment that encourages collaboration and the exchange of ideas, aligning with our commitment to building sustainable partnerships and advancing the future of maritime and energy sectors worldwide."
Seona Shand, Chief Operating Officer at SABA, added: "Creating alliances within the African business ecosystem in London gives us a huge opportunity to boost trade and relations directly between Scotland and African countries. These partnerships will enable more businesses to connect, discover opportunities, access market intelligence and increase their global footprint in an exciting continent with so much potential and SABA acting as the enabler".
The business programme created for the Scotland London Africa Week will highlight the vast opportunities for Scottish businesses to trade with Africa and underscores the importance of leaving a positive, lasting legacy through meaningful partnerships and economic impact.
