Namibia Hydrogen Meeting, Online

Recently SABA hosted the Scotland - Namibia Hydrogen

meeting, online, where our members were able to hear about the hydrogen ambitions of both Scotland and Namibia and identify areas for cooperation and partnership.

James Mnyupe, CA(SA)(Nam), CFA, CFP, Namibia's Hydrogen Commissioner, Scott Richards, from the Delivery Unit in the Office of the President and Wilhencia Uiras, Executive Director of the National Planning Committee, gave a superb overview of the enormous ambition of Namibia in this sector to our audience of SABA members that included hydrogen focussed organisations, investors, consultants, universities and colleges, and outlined where Scottish organisations can look to partner with Namibia.

With superb engagement from Namibia at the meeting including Linda Scott, High Commissioner, Ministry of International Relations & Cooperation, Namibia Training Authority, Namibia Investment Promotion & Development Board, University of Namibia and the Ministry of Mines and Energy it couldn't have been a better initial engagement on the hydrogen opportunities between our countries.

From Scotland we were very grateful to welcome Eilidh MacKinnon from The Scottish Government to discuss policy, Nigel Holmes from the Scottish Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Association to give a brilliant overview of the sector in Scotland, Sarah Hillyear from Robert Gordon University and National Energy Skills Accelerator to discuss partnerships in energy skills training and Murray Bainbridge Scottish Development International lead on hydrogen, to expand on opportunities for partnership in the private sector. Also, huge thanks to Murray for his invaluable assistance in making this happen.

This was very much an initial engagement and we look forward to delivering more opportunities for engagement for our SABA members as we move forward with a programme of events with Namibia.

Presentations and introductions are available to our members
