Scotland and Tunisia Strengthen Trade Links Through Business Forum

The Scottish Africa Business Association (SABA), together with the Embassy of Tunisia in the United Kingdom and FIPA-Tunisia, recently hosted the online Tunisia–Scotland Business Forum, bringing together Scottish and UK companies interested in trade, investment and market expansion opportunities in Tunisia.

The webinar provided an opportunity for businesses and stakeholders from both countries to explore the growing potential for commercial collaboration across a range of strategic sectors including renewable energy, agribusiness, manufacturing, education, skills development and professional services.

Tunisia continues to position itself as a strategic gateway into North Africa and wider African markets, with strengths in manufacturing, agri-food production, renewable energy and industrial development. Scotland, meanwhile, is internationally recognised for its expertise in offshore energy, clean technologies, education and training, research and innovation, food and drink and professional services.

Speakers highlighted how closer collaboration between Tunisia and Scotland could unlock new opportunities for investment, technology exchange, research partnerships and business growth. The discussion also explored how businesses from both countries can work together to support economic diversification, sustainability and skills development.

The forum forms part of SABA’s wider commitment to strengthening commercial relationships between Scotland and African markets through trade missions, strategic introductions, events and market insight.

Frazer Lang, CEO of the Scottish Africa Business Association, said:

“We were delighted with the strong level of engagement and interest in the Tunisia–Scotland Business Forum. There is clear enthusiasm from businesses on both sides to explore new partnerships and commercial opportunities. “Tunisia and Scotland have highly complementary strengths across sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture, education and innovation. We believe there is real potential to build meaningful long-term relationships that deliver economic value for both countries. This forum is an important first step and we are now looking at how we can build on this momentum, including the potential for a future in-person trade mission to Tunisia involving businesses from Scotland and across the wider UK.”

The event further reinforced the importance of international collaboration and business-to-business engagement in unlocking new market opportunities between Scotland, the UK and North Africa.
