SABA hosts a full programme of Africa focussed events in Scotland, from private meetings to round tables and conferences, covering multiple sectors. Below is a selection from our 2016 - 17 programme.

PAST EVENTS

2ND SCOTLAND AFRICA OIL & GAS CONFERENCE

With government officials and speakers from Mozambique, Ghana, Uganda, Cote’ d’Ivoire and Tanzania, the 2nd edition of this conference widened the engagement to other parts of the continent and was the basis for the ongoing and successful partnership between Scotland and Ghana.

21st November 2017

GHANA VISIT

19th – 21st October 2017

From the 19th – 21st October 2017 a Ghanaian business delegation led by High Commissioner HE Papa Owusu-Ankomah visited Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen meeting with the Scottish government, Lord Provosts, universities and companies across sectors including Oil & Gas, agriculture, renewables and education. As a direct result of meetings organised by SABA, several Scottish companies have since entered the Ghanaian market.

KENYA VISIT

June 2017

In June 2017 the previous Kenyan High Commissioner, HE Lazarus Ombai Amayo, led his team on a three-day visit to Scotland which included meetings focussing on partnerships in agriculture, education and training, financial services and renewable energy. A particular highlight was an oil & gas focussed round table with over twenty Scottish companies attending which led to our increased activities with Kenya.

UGANDA VISIT

June 2017

In May 2017 HE Julius Peter Moto, High Commissioner of Uganda travelled to Scotland for a series of meetings concentrating on Oil & Gas, education and training, manufacturing and infrastructure.
As a result of this visit SABA is working with the High Commission to develop a strategy of investor engagement in Scotland.

COTE D’IVOIRE VISIT

March 2017

SABA had the pleasure of hosting HE Georges Aboua in March 2017 for a trade visit that concentrated on Oil & Gas and energy. His Excellency attended round table meetings in Aberdeen and Edinburgh to promote the opportunities in Cote d’Ivoire which has led to country visits by several companies and will again visit Scotland for the Francophone focussed oil & gas conference in Scotland in 2019.

1ST SCOTLAND AFRICA OIL & GAS CONFERENCE

With government representatives from Ghana, Uganda, Senegal, Mauritania and the Central Africa Republic as well as Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Energy, the conference showcased the opportunities for Scotland and provided information to ease market entry to these growing markets.
